Held at Falstone, Northumberland on Saturday, 23rd August 2008.

During one of the wettest summers anyone can remember, the 123rd Falstone Border Shepherds Show had a glorious day for the event.

The Show had to be moved at the last minute from its normal show-field to a new location immediately beneath the wall of the Kielder Dam. This was because the traditional show-field and car parking area was waterlogged.

Visitors had to drive over the dam and down the other side of the River Tyne to get there. However, some people liked this field better than the original, as it is entriely surrounded by trees that keep the wind off. Or it may just have been the relief of having the show at all, unlike unlucky nearby Bellingham whose show the following week was cancelled sadly.

There was a good turnout at Falstone, the weather held and everyone had an enjoyable day both during and after the Show. Hooray! Weather permitting, we'll see you next year.

You can read a poem from 1905 entitled "Falstone and Kielder Shepherds' Show" to see how little things have changed! CLICK HERE FOR POEM>
